AMU Conducted Admission Test for admission to B.Tech and B.Arch

The combined admission test for admission to B. Tech. / B. Arch. of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner at 43 centres here today. In all, more than 42 thousand candidates appeared for the engineering test at Aligarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Kozhikode and Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir where 82.9 % candidates appeared in the test.

In order to maintain transparency and to avoid the possibility of use of unfair means during the test, the University arranged digital photography of every candidate. One case of copying using a high tech device was reported and the culprit was handed over to the police after lodging an FIR at the local police station by the Proctorial staff .

AMU draws students from all corners of the country as well as foreign countries, especially Africa,West Asia and Southeast Asia. In some courses, seats are reserved for students from SAARC and Commonwealth Countries. Hostel accommodation is provided to the students and there are extra ordinary facilities for co-curricular (cultural,literary) activities and sports.

The Controller of Examinations and Admissions, Prof. Pervez Mustajab thanked the staff associated with the conduct of entrance test. He further added that the University is duty bound to hold the entrance test in the most transparent manner, yet there are reports of some miscreants contacting the candidates and their parents and demanding money to get the admission. He urged the candidates and their parents not to indulge in such malpractices and do not waste their energy and resources on such frauds. He said if any person is trying to contact them, please report the matter to the University
authorities so that appropriate action is taken according to the law.

AMU had also deputed senior faculty members as observers to supervise the smooth conduct of the admission test at various centres.
