Semester cloud over Delhi University SOL
Under Delhi University only the School of Open Learning (SOL) that has not switched to the semester method. This year can land in trouble as at present there is no parity in the syllabi being trained at SOL and regular colleges, SOL teachers claim that approx one laks students admitted under distance education mode.
The teachers say that the students have not been told yet if they will be taught the old or the new syllabi though they have been given the study material for the old course. "The university is dragging its feet over the issue of introduction of semester system at the School of Open Learning. Neither teachers nor students have been told in writing that we need to switch to the new semester syllabi for our undergraduate courses," said Tapan Biswal, president ofDelhi University Correspondence Courses Teachers Association (DUCCTA). Biswal said the confusion started with the registrar of the university officially communicating in July this year that semester system, with a new and revised syllabus, would be introduced in all colleges, including SOL, from 2011-12 session."Students of SOL are being given study material of the old course, which technically does not exist because the ordinance regarding course content and system of examination was amended in the executive council meeting held in April and July this year.

According to the ordinance , the old channel has been repealed and replaced by a new semester-based program, "said Biswal. DUCCTA members said it was possible that students can obtain a booklet of questions based on the new course when you take exams in May next year. "When the African Union insists that there is no difference in the program and faculty at universities and SOL, why this disparity should remain. This year, DU can implement at least the review of the program, regardless of the way twice in the semester. Otherwise, the migration of students between universities and not lose SOL and SOL USP be associated with universities, " Said a teacher of SOL
